Church Tech Leaders to Convene at WFX for Launch of National Church Tech Leaders Retreat
WFX and Church Technical Leaders Partnership will Expand Educational and Support for Emerging Role of Technical Director in Churches at WFX Dallas 2011
FRAMINGHAM, MA – June 29, 2011 – Worship Facilities Conference and Expo (WFX) announces today a partnership with Church Technical Leaders, formerly CTDRT and CTAN, to establish the Church Tech Leaders Retreat, an annual conference for technical leaders taking place November 8 in conjunction with WFX Dallas 2011 at the Dallas Convention Center.
WFX Dallas 2011 (November 9-11) is the comprehensive event where church building, technology and leadership teams bring their visions to life. This event unites thousands of church and industry leaders and hundreds of exhibitors from around the world to guide facilities and technology investments and opportunities for houses of worship.
The Church Tech Leaders Retreat has been developed by a dedicated group of leading church technical directors from progressive, innovative, and influential churches nationwide to equip attendees with strategies, solutions, and support in the real issues that every tech leader faces. This event is a unique experience for leaders, both full-time and part-time, to learn and be supported by others who have or are facing the same challenges. Attendees will walk away with the knowledge and appreciation of the importance and impact of their role to the mission of their church. They will also learn methods and techniques to improve their performance, relationships, and opportunities to recapture their passion for serving.
“WFX has attracted and hosted tech directors since its inception and we have seen a rapid evolution towards more complex technical issues. However, we have also seen technical people who are struggling to keep their passion to serve and who are less effective as they want to be in their roles,” says Jim Wagner, General Manager, EH Events. “They spend countless hours serving in their churches but their development and support is unfortunately overlooked. Church Technical Leaders will fill the support and development gap that exists. WFX is wholeheartedly supporting the creation of Church Technical Leaders and the first annual Church Tech Leaders Retreat, as the people holding these roles are crying out to be supported and the people behind this event are truly called to reach and serve them.”
Church Technical Leaders was birthed and is led by Bill Swaringim (Technical Arts Director, The Crossing, St. Louis, MO) and supported by Jeff VanderGiessen (Production Technology Director, Mars Hill, Seattle, WA) and Dennis Choy (Production Pastor, North Coast Church, Vista, CA).
All panelist are active members of the Church Technical Leaders and include Greg Baker (Technical Director, Saddleback Church, Lake Forest, CA), Greg Bacus (Technology Director, LifeChurch.tv, Edmond, OK), Todd Elliott (Technical Director, Willow Creek, South Barrington, IL), and several others.
The Church Tech Leaders Retreat will take place in two half-day sessions on Tuesday, November 8 (10:00am – 2:30pm, 4:00pm – 8:00pm), followed by a special session for full-time technical directors.
Now in its seventh year, WFX is presented by Church Production and Worship Facilities Magazines and EH Events in conjunction with The American Institute of Architects Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture Knowledge Community, and sponsored by Christianity Today International and the National Council of Acoustical Consultants.
WFX Dallas 2011 will offer the most comprehensive agenda ever, including two dynamic keynote presentations, more than 55 Conference sessions, over 50 Hands-On Training audio, video and lighting classes, over 200 exhibitors on the expo floor, worship concert, behind-the-scenes church tours, and invaluable networking opportunities.
