With vision casting, the operative word is “vision.” If the congregation and community can’t see it, if only in their minds, you’ve missed the cast.

After all, vision casting implies that you’re asking the congregation and community to support something that doesn’t yet exist. Not gaining that support, financial and otherwise, can cost not only the project but even peoples’ careers and the stability and viability of the congregation.
