Conference Advisory Council

WFX proudly introduced the members of the Conference Advisory Council for the 3rd annual event. The Conference Advisory Council assists WFX with selecting conference sessions and developing the best conference program for WFX attendees.

WFX would like to thank these industry leaders for their time and efforts in assisting with the WFX conference program.

Doug Akers

Customer Relations, Church Architecture Department, LifeWay
Prior to joining LifeWay in February of 2003, Doug was the Minister of Administration and Technology at Westside Baptist Church in Gainesville Florida for 9 years. In addition to his ministerial and administrative responsibilities, Doug was the staff representative responsible for an $8 million relocation effort of this 2,500 member church.

His position with LifeWay allows him to assist and consult with churches across the country who are considering new facilities, relocation, or capital stewardship programs. In addition, Doug provides ministry and church evaluations, geo-demographic and facility analysis, financial capability assistance, and long-range feasibility planning.

Brian Blackmore

Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Church Production Magazine & Worship Facilities magazine
Worship Facilities Track Chair
Brian Blackmore is founding editor and publisher of Church Production Magazine and Worship Facilities magazine. His background includes a range of marketing management positions with dealers, contractors and manufacturers that service the house of worship market. He is active on the technical and worship teams at his church in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he attends with his wife Deidra, and their three sons.

Dennis Choy

Technical Production Pastor, North Coast Church

Dennis Choy oversees the Technical and Production ministry for North Coast Church. Considered the Pioneers of Multi-site/Video Venues, North Coast launched their first Venue in 1998 and have grown to over 6500 in weekend attendance. Dennis has developed a team of over 50 Technical volunteers serving 8 different worship venues. His background in audio visual combined with his pastor’s heart created the Technical Ministry as it is today. Dennis, his wife Michelle, and their three children Justin, Luke and Maya reside in Oceanside California.

Anthony Coppedge, CTS

Church Media Consultant
Former Church Technical Director

Sought after by today’s fast-growing churches, Anthony brings a passion for ministering to tech arts staff and volunteers as well as a wealth of experience and practical know-how to churches. By focusing on helping churches develop Media & Communications strategies and technology designs with clear upgrade paths, Anthony helps teaches church leaders to be good stewards of their resources and personnel. Anthony has been on staff at three different mega churches as Media Minister, Technical Director and Technical Coordinator. He is currently involved with the volunteer ministry at Gateway Church in Southlake, TX. Anthony has been consulting with churches, teaching at technology conferences, writing articles and reviewing products since 1995 and contributes to magazines such as Sound & Communications and Pro A/V, and is a featured columnist with Church Production Magazine, Worship Facilities Magazine, and Outreach Magazine. Dr. David Fletcher

Executive Pastor
Founder & Host of Xpastor.org

As an Executive Pastor, David Fletcher launched XPastor.org to help churches in America better understand and handle leadership issues. David is a professor at the Evangelical Theological Seminary of India and Dallas Theological Seminary, teaching XPastor concepts to Doctor of Ministry students. David served for twenty-three years at a church in Dallas and now serves as an XP in Austin, Texas. He is certified in the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis. David has been trained in conflict resolution, mediation and arbitration by Peacemaker Ministries. He has been on the board of the American Council of the Asian Christian Academy since 1991.

Clay Gandy

Architect / Adjunct Faculty Member, Greenville Tech

An education director in the American Institute of Architects since 1999, Clay Gandy developed and taught a continuing education curriculum for architects on the effective use of project management technology in the building industry. Clay has been an adjunct faculty member since 2001 at Greenville Technical College in the Architectural and Construction Engineering Technology program. Current research focuses on measuring how building industry innovations can enhance worship effectiveness.


Jill S. Gille

Executive Production Manager, Willow Creek Community Church

Jill has had several roles in the last 18 years, as a stage manager, monitor engineer, service director, stage/set designer, and technical director. Throughout her nine years at Willow Creek Community Church, she has been the technical director for Student Ministries, Axis, New Community, weekends, and conferences and events. She is currently the executive production manager, leading Willow Creek's production ministry. Jill is passionate about clearing the path and resourcing technical artists to thrive in excellence at a sustainable pace.

Jerry Halcomb

Founder & CEO, HH Architects

Jerry Halcomb, Founder and CEO of HH Architects, has been designing church facilities nationwide for 36+ years. He has planned hundreds of churches including: Prestonwood Baptist in Dallas, First Baptist Orlando, Germantown Baptist in Germantown, TN, and Brentwood Baptist in Brentwood, TN and many more!

Dean Johnson

Executive Director, National Association of Church Facilities Managers (NACFM)
Facilities Director, First Baptist Church of Lubbock, TX

Dean Johnson attended Texas Tech University and spent 14 years in the industrial electrical construction business. For the past 12 years he has been the Director of Facilities at First Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas. He is a charter member of the National Association of Church Facilities Managers (NAFCM) and served 4 years as their Treasurer, 2 years as Vice-President and 2 years as President. He is currently serving as Executive Director of NACFM.

Jim Kumorek

Former Church Technical Director, Northwoods Community Church, Peoria, Illinois
Church Production Track Chair

Jim Kumorek is managing editor of Church Production and Worship Facilities magazines. Prior to this, he spent two years as the staff Technical Director at Northwoods Community Church in Peoria, Illinois, and twenty years as a Software Engineer in New England.

M. Rex Miller

Futurist
Author, The Millennium Matrix

M. Rex Miller is a futurist and the creator of the SWARM (Smart Work and Referral Marketing) Network, a business development approach based on the strategies of tightly aligned corporate coalitions. He consults for business and non-profit organizations and is on the board of Lamar Boschman Ministries. Rex graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in theology and communications. As an undergraduate he was active in campus ministry and has remained active in church leadership since college. Rex has been a youth leader, tennis coach, Boy Scout master, and lay pastor. His interests include camping, tennis, music, photography, and researching future trends. He is married and the father of three children.

Dave Patchin

Executive Pastor, Hope Community Church, Raleigh, NC

Dave Patchin is Hope Community Church's executive pastor overseeing the day to day operations, staff, and ministries of Hope. He served 18 years with Campus Crusade for Christ, the last eight as a regional director. He holds an undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech and has attended the International School of Theology and Reformed Theological Seminary. He and wife Kara are the parents of three children.

Jim Pocock

Jim is the Senior Pastor of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Wayland, Massachusetts. He has previously served churches in Connecticut and California and has led churches in two major building expansions. He and his wife Beth have one son, Nathan, in college.
