Description:

Phase III of the campus masterplan includes multiple venues to further SUPPORT the church VISION to create interesting architecture EVOCATIVE of their core values of authenticity, integrity, warmth, and simplicity. Implemented via a rational architectural expression which displays raw structural and mechanical components and use genuine natural materials.  The building is very “green”, incorporating significant recycled materials, tilt-wall concrete walls, steel frame interior structure, concrete floors, sandwich ceiling panels, Glu-Lam structural beams, Low-E glass, high-efficiency mechanical systems and large overhang shading the south facing faτade.

A STRONG HEART
A new 25,000 square foot interior town center forms the HEART of the dense urban campus and connects the Worship room, a new 500-seat multi-purpose loft, a new 300-seat chapel, coffee bar, and feature fireplace. The town center provides 360 degree visibility to all campus destinations.  The FLEXIBLE space accommodates a variety of church functions including overflow worship seating, dining banquets, education events and has even housed multiple jump-houses for children’s activities.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME
A casual atmosphere reinforced by a fireplace with generous comfortable seating and an expanded coffee bar allow guests to have impromptu one-on-one meetings or gatherings of larger groups or just hang out.  Large expanses of glass provide views of the exterior patio area and nearby park green-belt.  This is a place of CONNECTION and recharging.  The town center curtainwalls have large sliding doors which allow the interior space to flow to the exterior.  The seasons are experienced and the activities are more interesting.

THE PORCH
An exterior activity area featuring a baptismal pond and large covered seating area provide a casual outdoor relaxation area, a place for baptisms, concerts and family picnics.  Complimented by lush landscaping, architectural lighting and an enhanced AVL system this is a special place.

SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGY
A 500-seat assembly loft provides both a strong connection to the outdoors as well as a high performance audio/visual and lighting space.  The loft is elevated above the first floor to allow uninhibited access from interior to exterior space. A large curtainwall allows views to the exterior as well as generous natural light into the room.  Black out shades and backdrop curtain provide optimal light control.  A sophisticated AVL design provides diverse configuration of stage lighting, sound and projection.  Drop down screens are located for optimal view.  The multi-purpose room will accommodate a variety of seating and use configurations including worship overflow, banquets, education classes and is available for private community use.

SOLACE AND CHARM
A 300-seat chapel located on the second floor is designed to provide a more formal oasis for weddings and funerals.  Photographers enjoy shooting in this space because it provides a wonderful backdrop from all angles.  Limestone walls, timber trusses, abundant natural light and hand carved pews are modern in design but familiar in their traditional application. AVL components are designed for optimal performance and hidden from view.  Architectural lighting is controlled for a variety of “moods” and attractive architectural featurettes.
