Description:
Gateway Church, according to Outreach Magazine, is the nation’s 21st largest church. In November of 2010 they opened their new facility with over 200,000 square feet including a 4,000 seat sanctuary. Other features include an enormous children’s facility called God’s Amazement Park, adult classrooms, a large lobby with café, and a television studio. The project was designed by Beck Architecture with Acoustic Dimensions of Dallas providing the design for the room acoustics, audio, video, lighting, theatrical rigging and broadcast systems.
Pro Sound & Video was selected to install the extensive audio and video systems for this Church that desired the best technology available. There are numerous audio & video systems within the sprawling facility for each of the meeting spaces but the highlight is the new auditorium. The sound reinforcement system begins with three DiGiCo SD7 digital consoles; one located at the front-of-house location, one back-stage for monitor mix and one for Broadcast Audio. The head-end equipment includes Meyer Galileo signal processing which in-turn feeds the more than 90 Meyer cabinets including twenty-four MILO cabinets in three line arrays. Additional Meyer cabinets are used for front fills, stage stacks, balcony, under-balcony, and subwoofers. All systems have been equipped with Pro Tools for live recording and playback features.
The video projection system includes four Christie high-output projectors shooting onto three large format Stewart rear projection screens. A Crestron control system is used in conjunction with the video system. The video production room includes a switcher with 3 control surfaces to support IMAG, Broadcast, and studio functions independently.
There are four Children’s Auditoriums all outfitted with Meyer speakers, Digico mixing consoles, and Aviom monitor systems. There are multiple Adult Education and Ministry rooms that are self-contained but are also capable of tying into the main system and thus can be used as over-flow rooms.
“On both technical and architectural levels, the room was built to enhance high production values and system responsiveness. Just like that found within the Church itself, there was a binding sense of community among all of us working on the project. This led to holistic integration of the room design, with everything working together as a part of the whole. Despite its size, the room feels incredibly connected.” Robert Rose, a Senior Consultant with Acoustic Dimensions.
